Catch-Up Blogging

So, I'm a little behind in the blogging department. Here's some stuff that's been going on in the last couple months:

We planned a going-away party for Ron Johnson, who was our adviser at the K-State Collegian newspaper. It was a small gathering, but we made up for it with good conversation. For those of you who know the history, yes - there was a bit of awkwardness, but we kept it to a minimum.

I stopped by Benetti's to visit Ben and Sarah, and caught them on their way to lunch. So I just hopped in the car with them and enjoyed a nice afternoon of garage saleing and getting to know their son, Brody. Have you ever seen such big, beautiful eyes?

Lightning struck an oil plant of some kind near my place, and you could see the plume of smoke framed by the buildings on my street. Note also the torn-up condition of Second Street.

A student in my district dropped out of school, but, with encouragement from her elementary school secretary (Linda Kane, below), decided to go back and get her GED. She and her mom invited me to the special graduation ceremony, and she even recognized me in her speech. All I did was show an interest in her progress, but it was so cool to be included in such a momentous occasion!

Cousin Charlie came to KC to visit, and he brought his two-year-old daughter, Averie. She was the sweetest, cutest, most charming child ever. We took them to Fritz's, which was a big hit.

The fireworks on Memorial Day at Union Station were even cooler from Dad and Judith's place.
