A Medal for Dr. Carruth's Father

With all her signature tenaciousness, Dr. Carruth worked with Congressman Sam Graves to get a replacement Purple Heart for her late father. After visiting the site in the Arbonne Forest where her father earned this medal as a Marine in WWI, she came back determined to replace the medal that was lost in a house fire years ago.

Her daughter, Gene, even came out for the ceremony.
